In 1973 Marc Kox-Plyta took over from his father, Jos Kox-Koch, a connoisseur of wine from a family of wine-growers. Now, Marc and his wife Olga are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their cellar, located north of Remich. Luxembourg’s Institut Viti-Vinicole and the Hôtel des Vignes, with its breathtaking view of the Moselle, are close to the estate.
Today, Marc Kox-Plyta has more than seven hectares of vines, with a wonderful exposition on the most famous hillsides of Remich. The wines that come from the premier plots like Primerberg, Goldberg, Fels and Hopertsbour are particularly prestigious. It is unusual for a vineyard such as the Caves Kox-Plyta to be in one continuous piece. The vines, classic Luxembourg grape varieties, are 30 to 40 years old.
The vines are cultivated with respect for nature, with severe but careful pruning, healthy grapes harvested by hand, a cutting-edge winemaking process and finally, the winemaker’s skill: these are the qualities and characteristics of the wines produced by Marc Kox-Plyta.
All my plots are in Remich, a town known for its rich, deep, soil and dispersed plots.
Primerberg, Hôpertbour, Fels and Goldberg are some of the best plots in Remich. All our wines are vinified exclusively from grapes harvested by hand, by us.
This means we can offer consumers natural wines that are excellent value for money.
